Description
Cloves are strong enough that counting them is the normal way to measure. Three or four in a curry, two in a pot of rice, six in a pickling brine.
Add them whole to hot oil at the start of cooking with the cinnamon and cardamom, or push them into an onion for a stock.
They soften but never really become pleasant to bite into, so most cooks fish them out or warn the table.
